Kylian Mbappe has chosen the money.
Kylian Mbappe has chosen the money by rejecting Real Madrid CF and staying with PSG.
It just says everything, doesn’t it?
This deal with PSG makes Kylian Mbappe the highest-paid sportsman on planet earth.
Did he make the right decision? It depends on his objectives: Ronaldo set high standards for anyone that wanted to follow after him and then went on to prove himself in many different leagues. PSG, with their vast offers, have potentially just ruined a kid’s dreams of becoming an icon.
However, his choice could be considered acceptable, as well as understandable – not just because of the money itself, but because he is now able to make changes within the squad – deciding who stays and who goes – and, not just that, but he has now been given the equivalent of a football manager simulator.
Was the decision made by Kylian Mbappe right or wrong?
With this new-found decision-making power, he is now able to have a say in who will head the team as the coach and the limits to what that coach is able to do in all areas of PSG.
Anyway, in the meantime, Ronaldo – who is said to be the idol of Kylian Mbappe – has been consistently declining PSG’s offers over the years. From a sporting point of view, Mbappe should have followed his lead, as his choice is not necessarily the best decision, and we don’t have to explain the obvious reasons why.
Meanwhile, Mbappe couldn’t explain if he tried as he has seemingly simply followed money. He has voted for a shining project with many glitters, the Eifel tower. It is safe to say he will retire with fewer European trophies than the players on Real Madrid’s bench.
Although he will stay in France’s Ligue one and wants to become the best in the world, a goat just like Messi and Ronaldo, it doesn’t seem that PSG is the right place to achieve that, even if his new-found power will allow him to decide who his next new coach will be.
Here is what The Guardian had to say about the signing.
By the Mbappe had made this decision, the whole thing had already become a dividing topic amongst many fans, of Real Madrid and PSG alike. Why is this, you may ask. Well, for the longest time, Kylian Mbappe had long said that it was a dream of his to join and become a part of the Real Madrid team.
So, you can imagine the surprise and frustration of all of those following this journey when Mbappe repeatedly went back and forth between staying with PSG or signing with Real Madrid CF.
The final decision was the one that was the real hard hitter for most, though. This is because it was made to seem like an almost certainty that Mbappe would be making the change of club, only for him to eventually reveal he had decided on staying with PSG.
When looking at the content created regarding this topic, the level to which Kylian Mbappe had convinced those watching on from the side of Real Madrid is blindly apparent. This article written by TheRealChamps shows just how convinced fans had become that the decision would be a Real Madrid one.
It was openly admitted by the PSG player that Emmanuel Macron – the President of the Republic of France – had directly contacted him to have him stay in Ligue 1 with PSG, telling Kylian; “I want you to stay. I don’t want you to leave now. You’re very important to the country.” – with player then remarking; “When the president tells you that, that counts”.
This isn’t all that had been said during his interview with The New York Times. He had first stated how big of a deal it was to him at the time that he had been discussing his career with the president.
News outlet, The Mirror, had also reported on another case of coercion that Mbappe had experienced while making his decision. In their article, they tell us that former Chelsea start Frank Leboeuf, had reportedly urged the PSG star to stay in the French capital as he believed “the Parisians are more likely to win European club football‘s most coveted honour in the near future”.
With this in mind, can it be said that he never made the decision on his own, that it was persuasion that caused PSG to be the final choice?
